Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about brackets, scoring, points, and getting started with Dream Team.
The basics
What is Dream Team?
Dream Team turns getting a good night's sleep into a friendly competition. You join a tournament bracket, and each day your sleep score goes head-to-head against another player's. Win your matchup and you advance; get knocked out and you're done for that bracket. It's March Madness, but the game is who slept better.
How does a bracket work?
Every bracket is a 64-player, single-elimination tournament split into four regions (West, East, North, South) by time zone and seeded by each player's average sleep score over the last 30 days. Brackets lock Sunday night; round one is Monday and the final is Saturday. Win six nights in a row and you're the champion.
How do I actually play, day to day?
Every morning you submit your sleep score for the previous night. Once both you and your opponent have submitted — or once the daily deadline passes — the matchup is decided and the winner moves on. Then you do it again the next day against your next opponent.
Is it free?
Yes. Every week there are three free brackets — Countin' Sheep, Bulldog Bedtime and SoCal Snoozers — and you can join any or all of them. The champion of a free bracket earns points. There's nothing to buy.
Scoring
How is my sleep scored?
Every night gets a 0–100 score in three parts: Duration (up to 50 points), Bedtime consistency (up to 30 points) and Interruptions (up to 20 points). Every wearable grades sleep with its own private formula, so Dream Team ignores those numbers and runs one identical formula on the raw sleep data in Apple Health — the same math for every player. Your Dream Team score won't match your device's own score.
Where does my sleep data come from?
From Apple Health, on your iPhone, with your permission. Each morning you open the app, tap Import from Apple Health, and submit. Scores come only from Apple Health — there's no manual entry, which keeps every matchup fair.
Which wearables work?
Anything that syncs sleep to Apple Health: Apple Watch, Garmin, Oura, WHOOP, Eight Sleep and Coros. Pick yours on the Profile tab — you can choose more than one, and we'll score whichever recorded the most sleep that night. Fitbit doesn't sync sleep to Apple Health, so it isn't supported.
When do I have to submit by each day?
There's one daily deadline for everyone: 9:00 PM Eastern (6:00 PM Pacific). Submit before then and you're in; miss it and you forfeit that day's matchup. We send reminders at 10 AM and noon your time, plus a last call at 8:30 PM Eastern.
What if I forget to submit or sleep in?
No submission by the deadline counts as a loss — your opponent advances. If both players miss it, both are out and the next-round opponent gets a free pass.
Can I change my score after I submit?
No — you get one submission per day, and it locks in when you send it. Make sure it's right before you submit.
Joining and playing with friends
How do I join a bracket?
On the Bracket tab, tap Join a Bracket and pick one of the week's three free brackets. You can join more than one.
Can I play against my friends specifically?
Yes. Add friends by username on the Profile tab, then invite them into your bracket. If a bracket fills up before your friend accepts, they'll be placed in another one.
What does it mean for a bracket to "lock"?
Brackets lock Sunday night at 9 PM Pacific (or sooner, if all 64 spots fill). Until then you can leave freely; once it locks, the field is set and play starts Monday.
What if a bracket doesn't have enough real players?
Brackets always play out at full size. If there aren't enough real players to fill every slot, the empty spots are filled with stand-in 'bot' players so the tournament runs normally. Bots are there to round out the field — a real player who submits a score will beat a bot they're matched against.
Points, prizes, and currency
What do I win?
The champion of a free bracket earns 10 points. Points are in-app only and have no cash value.
What are points vs. bucks?
Points are what you earn by winning brackets, completing missions and inviting friends. Bucks are a second in-app currency that you can convert into points. Neither has cash value.
How do I get more points?
Win free brackets, complete missions (like three nights of 90+ in a row, or a perfect 100), and invite friends — you and each friend get 30 points when they join with your code, plus a 100-point bonus once three friends have joined.
Does it cost anything?
No. Dream Team is free, there's nothing to buy, and there's no real-money wagering.
Privacy
What sleep data leaves my phone?
Only your derived sleep score (the 0–100 number) is sent to Dream Team's servers to run your matchups — not the raw, detailed sleep data from Apple Health. Dream Team doesn't use third-party tracking SDKs.
Where's your privacy policy?

Troubleshooting
The Apple Health import isn't showing up / isn't working.
The Import from Apple Health button needs a real iPhone and Health permission for Dream Team (Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Dream Team). If it says no sleep was found, make sure your wearable's app has synced last night to Apple Health, then try again.
I opened the app and my score didn't save.
If you already submitted for the day, that's expected — you get one submission per day and the app treats a repeat as already-in. If you genuinely haven't submitted and it failed, try again; if it keeps failing, contact support.
